What is AN Amniotic Fluid Injection?

An amniotic fluid injection is composed of cryopreserved amniotic membrane and amniotic fluid of the innermost portion of healthy human placenta, tested and regulated by the FDA. It is comprised of extra-concentrated substances that are naturally found in the body, such as growth factors, cytokines, collagen and hyaluronic acid. Amniotic tissue graft has been used in a variety of applications in the past 100 years with positive results and no adverse effects reported in the literature. Applications range from burn victims, ophthalmology, wound healing to sports injuries and chronic musculoskeletal pain in the lower extremity.

WHAT EFFECTS DOES AMNIOTIC FLUID HAVE ON SURROUNDING TISSUE?

Amniotic tissue has been shown to exert an anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial effect in human tissue, thus injecting small amounts of this fluid was shown to significantly reduce foot pain, promote reduction of scar tissue, increase mobility and facilitate a quicker return to full activity post-injury and post-surgery. It also provides the natural cellular scaffold for rebuilding cartilage, tendon, ligament, muscle, and bone.

WHAT IS A B12 VITAMIN INJECTION?

B12 is a water soluble vitamin that has the benefit of nerve regeneration. At Step Up Footcare, we believe in natural and effective therapies. For conditions where there are defective nerves, such as peripheral neuropathy, neuralgia, and Morton’s neuroma or any interspace perineural neuritis, injecting a concentrated B12 dose directly around the nerve has been shown to promote nerve repair and diminish pain from nerve damage.

WHICH CONDITIONS DOES A B12 INJECTION TREAT?

If you are experiencing a feeling of “pins and needles” or numbness in the ankle or foot, during or post exertion you maybe a candidate for a B12 injection. Additionally, B12 injections are used to treat the foot and ankle conditions below.

Peripheral Neuropathy
Sural Nerve Neuritis
Neuritis of any superficial nerve in the leg, ankle, or foot
Morton's Neuroma
Post-traumatic neuralgia

WHAT EFFECTS DOES B12 HAVE ON SURROUNDING TISSUE?

The injections are performed under ultrasound guidance for precision of placement. It is safe to receive multiple B12 injections into the foot because they lack the tissue destructive properties of a high-potency steroid.
